Mozart, Schiller, Beethoven, Wagner, Heine – our greatest. None of them was well-behaved – they were not allowed to be! Otherwise we might know nothing of them today. The powerful of their time were only too keen to make them compliant or silence them altogether.

But these artists were ardent champions of freedom and humanity. They questioned the ruling structures and stood up to the powerful.

What was once considered inconvenient shines on us today as an expression of courage and greatness. Our concert programme of music and anecdotes celebrates this independence of mind – the courage to be different, and the freedom that grows from it.
